In 2015, Coca-Cola’s labels will change in the UK as it adopts the Department of Health’s voluntary front-of-pack labelling scheme and its colour coded system.
When the scheme was announced last year, Coca-Cola considered signing up at the time but instead decided to continue with the Guideline Daily Amount system that was in use across Europe.
Consumer reactions in the UK have shown that people want a single, consistent labelling scheme across all food and drink products to help them make the right choices for them and their families, prompting Coca-Cola to adopt the new system.
Containing 139 calories per can, Coca‑Cola will be red for sugar and green for fat, saturates and salt.
Zero-calorie drinks Coca‑Cola Zero and Diet Coke will be green for all four categories.
