The Can Makers was formed in September 1981, as the body representing the UK manufacturers of beer and carbonated soft drinks cans. The organisation now consists of three can manufacturers: Crown Bevcan UK, Ball Packaging Europe and Rexam Beverage Can who supply the UK market, together with their raw material suppliers: Alcan Rhenalu, Corus Packaging, Hydro Aluminium, Darex UK, AzkoNobel and Valspar. AMG/Shardal Castings, the specialist detinning company and the multi-pack suppliers ITW Hi-Cone are also members.

BCME (Beverage Can Makers Europe) is a non-profit-making trade body that represents Europe's leading drinks can manufacturers. Our goal is to maximise market opportunities for the beverage can and proactively position and support the positive attributes and image of the can relative to other beverage packaging alternatives through coordinated marketing, environmental, legislative and technical initiatives.

Our activities include:
