Picked up a case of Dr. Pepper - thought it was just their normal "football" cans they have every year - but was surprised by the "Nikki Boon" winner added to the can this year. Did quick research on this, she won the money by throwing a football into a hole in a giant Dr. Pepper can. www.thestar.com/sports/football/article/902812--how-this-woman-won-123-000-in-tuition-money-from-dr-pepperAnyway, thought I would share this new can. (So far, this is the only one I know of - don't know if there are other winners that might be on other cans.... but I'll be looking now.) Attachments:

I posted the picture to the Dr. Pepper Facebook page asking if there are others, and someone already replied that there is one with a guy on there. On their facebook page, they show 3 people won $123,000 - so maybe there are 3 different cans in this (now) set.... with others winning lower amounts. www.facebook.com/DrPepper?sk=app_211322418916349

I would love to have my picture on a can... I would be on there... holding a can that has my picture on it... with a can that has my picture on it... with a can that has my picture on it... (so I would be on there infinity times!
When I got married about 10 years ago - I did ask around at a couple of semi-local bottlers about the possibility of getting some special cans with our pictures & wedding date on as a cool wedding item.... I did get a response, don't know how much it would have cost - but the time run-up to get things in motion would have taken way too long so I never went any further.... but would still love to do that.

In Europe there are private label companies where you can make your own label for your company, club, organization or for personal use. One of them is drink-trends, which is located in Switzerland. Their website can be found at: www.drink-trends.ch. Prizes are about $3,00 a can, but are lower if you buy more. They also sell their private label cans for collectors. But there are also other in Europe. Do not know if there are any in the States.

Good News - They have them on Diet Dr. Pepper cans also. Bad News - They have them on Diet Dr. Pepper cans also. (I drink most all soda's except for Diet ones...) Also, the box is advertising the "winners" now, so hopefully they will be around long enough to get them all... have no idea how many there are - I have 2 (one reg, 1 diet), seen picture of 1 other regular (all girls) - and someone else mentioned a can having a guy on it. I'll be looking & trying to find out more. Attachments:

More Good News - Found a can on Diet Dr. Pepper CHERRY - So I expect there to be special regular Dr. Pepper Cherry also. Bad News... yet more diet that I have to drink. So to sum it up so far - I have 3 cans (1 reg Dr. Pepper, 1 Diet Dr. Pepper, and 1 Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry) I have seen a picture of another girl on regular Dr. Pepper... and some have said there are cans with guys on them. On the "boxes" for these cans, it shows 12 people - so maybe a total of 12 cans? Attachments:

Found a new one tonight at WalMart in a 12-pack of Diet Dr. Pepper (George Hayward) along with the Nikki Boon can in regular Dr. Pepper.

Just doing a little more research (guessing) on how many different cans there will be. -- My guess - 15 cans total.
On the Dr. Pepper Website, they have 123 people who were picked as winners (http://www.drpepper.com/promotions/football/gallery/)
Out of those 123 people, 108 just won $2,500 - they don't get cans.
They had 9 finalist who won $5,000 (they get cans I think) They had 3 runner-ups who won $23,000 (they get cans I think) They had 3 winners who won $123,000 (they get cans I think)
And here is a possible "check list" of cans to look for:
George H - Penn State - 123,000 ----- Diet Dr. Pepper (don't have - but seen) Nikki B - Belmont - 123,000 -------- Reg Dr. Pepper (HAVE) Casey V - UNLV - 123,000 Chris V - U of Texas - 23,000 Matt F - U of Alabama - 23,000 Ronald T - Stanford - 23,000 Lorena B - UW Madison - 5,000 ------- Diet Dr. Pepper (HAVE) Ashley H - UT C of Law - 5,000 Alison S - U of Mo - 5,000 ---------- Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry (HAVE) Kevin P - U of Florida - 5,000 Jennie A - Louisiana State - 5,000 -- Dr. Pepper (don't have - but seen) Logan G - U of Virgina - 5,000 Danielle H - Perimeter - 5,000 Kara P - Lake Region St. - 5,000 Joshua M - Ohio St - 5,000
If anyone can confirm any additional cans, please do so.

We think very much alike...I was thinking about trying to figure out what cans were made in this series as well based on the website of winners and the 12-pack packaging. Thanks for this post...it will serve as a good checklist for everyone (even though they are guesses...they are educated guesses and most likely correct). Its amazing how little info is on the web about these cans other than on this forum. Nikki Boon is certainly proud of her can: www.nikkiboon.com/#/newsScroll down to "I’M ON A DR PEPPER CAN!!!!!"

Yea, I'm still debating if there are only 10 or 12 cans.
There are 10 people on the box
but there are 12 people who won $5,000 or more.
The promotion runs for a few months, so hopefully enough time to find all the cans. My wife is going out of state this weekend, and I have trained her well to stop by random stores & gas stations to see if she can find me more cans.

OK, got some news. I decided to send an email to Dr. Pepper consumer relations just to ask if they knew how many cans where in the set. I got mostly a "canned" reply back about they are sorry that I can't find them all (I wasn't complaining about that.) -- BUT they did send me the following: We would like to advise you that there are eight different collectable cans for this promotion. Kind of strange they would have pictures of 10 people on the box - and a total of 12 people who won $5,000 or more. But will go with 8 collectable cans for this promotion for now. (Maybe 2 of each brand - Regular Dr. pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pepper Cherry, and Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry. )

Interesting news. It always amazes me how little information there typically is for us can collectors, even from the manufacturers themselves. I've called Coca-Cola in the past inquiring what cans were part of their holiday collection a couple of years ago and they had no idea and had no way to look it up. They told me that the cans are made regionally and there is no way to determine what cans are where. It just got me really frustrated. Seems like there is a huge gap here in communication and organization. At least with the web, we have our army of can collectors all over the world and we can share information and discoveries here.

Here is an article from popsop.com on 9/22/2011 (yesterday) that mentions the cans: Dr Pepper Continues Its Million Dollar Tuition Giveaway Initiativepopsop.com/49498"Dr Pepper also celebrates past tuition winners throughout the college football season by featuring their faces and stories on limited-edition cans of its beverages as well as online and in a national television commercial."
