I've collected pop cans for many years, have the POPCAN.ORG website that hasn't really been updated for awhile - popcan.org/index2.htmlFor the past 10 years, my collection has been in a storage unit since collecting cans has taken a back seat to everything else. So for the past 10 years, as I seen new cans - I get them - and after I get a pile, take them to the storage unit. Hopefully some day I'll be able to pull everything back out and get back to collecting. Anyway, QUESTION: I know here in the USA, Coke had a series of "Summer Cans" - A grill, surf board, etc.... (I can't remember if it was 2009 or 2010) Anyway, yesterday when out at a store I noticed the coke 24 pack looked like it had the same designed cans on it. My question - does anyone know about this summer cans by coke - and if so, are they the same design as in the years past or different. (I don't have easy access to my cans so it's hard for me to check.) Thanks. |

Hi, I really hope you display your collection for everyone to see! One of my favourite parts of collecting is when people come over and take a look. I actually remember stumbling upon your site a few years back when I saw the jewel covered Pepsi can. As for the summer Coke cans, I was in the U.S. yesterday, and all packaging seemed regular. Even the cans were the standard design - no 125th anniversary stuff. Here in Canada, the summer series is not released at all. -------- pop element: rft3.wordpress.com/ |

i think summer cans are the same as the ones back in 2009. just this year they carry calories bubbles

I looked in a couple of stores last night and the summer cans weren't there yet, but I did see an advertisement on the shelf with pictures of the same older summer cans that Saso is talking about. So it does look like they are re-releasing the same summer cans in 2011  |

re-release of 2009 summer set, just with 3 cans.
i wonder if USA will see the 125 years cans.

I've seen the flip flops can and got the sunglasses can today. I guess the surfboard cans will be released in a couple of weeks. Then maybe 125th Anniversary cans???

It's too bad the graphics are not changed for summer 2011. In terms of 125th Anniversary cans, I'd think that if there was going to be any, they would have been released in April/May leading up to the actual anniversary, as it was in Canada, UK, Hong Kong etc. Right now in Ontario, the 125th anniv. cans have ended and the regular packaging has made it's way back onto shelves. Yeah, that's so lame Coca-Cola! No 125th Anniversary cans and recycled graphics for the summer cans in the USA. You would think that since Coca-Cola was invented in the USA, that they would do a better job promoting the 125th Anniversary.

I was just coming here to say I seen the new summer cans in the store! The one in the box was the stars/stripes one - with the box showing all three (that are pictured above.)
I was out of town, and they were not on sale so I did not pick any up yet (just picked up the cherry 7up to finish my Captain America set) - but I'm sure the new Coke cans will be in my area soon and should be able to get some while on sale.

Where did you find the Captain America Cans? I haven't seen them down here in PA. Saw the Coca-Cola USA Summer Series 2 packaging in Wegman's last night. Had the Flip Flop cans inside though.  Attachments:

I've found 5 of the 6 local in my area (central Illinois) at my local wal-mart, except for the Cherry 7up, which it did not look like they sold much so hadn't seen the Captain American can there - but found it when I was about an hour north of my house which I know is a different pepsi & coke distribution area (So I always look for different cans there)... but think there is a Pepper/7up distributor in my area.. but not sure which areas they cover. (Some places, Pepsi is the distributor of Pepper/7up if I understand it correctly.)
