Last week was hot news in Brazil and around the world. Controversial issues involving politics, major world leaders, declarations of independence and even espionage. Don't be silly and stay up to date with what's happening in the world here, on the Vestibular Brasil Escola Editorial Blog . After all, one of these subjects could be the theme of your Entrance Exam and you don’t want to “float” during the test, right? Brazil →Theft of Petrobrás Equipment This week Brazil and the world learned about the theft of Petrobrás equipment, in January, in the interior of São Paulo. The list of stolen equipment included 4 laptops, two hard drives, and two memory sticks (in addition to other less important equipment). The controversy revolves around the information contained in this Special Data equipment: data about the NS-21 drilling rig (known as Ocean Clipper) that led to the discovery of the Jupiter Field, an immense reserve of natural gas located near the Santos Basin. The Jupiter Field could lead Brazil to natural gas self-sufficiency. The Federal Police, responsible for the investigation, reported that, due to the nature of the stolen equipment, the case could constitute possible “industrial espionage”. The PF is investigating and interrogating employees of Petrobrás and Halliburton, the company responsible for transporting the containers that contained the stolen material. And you? What do you think of the theft of Petrobrás equipment? Is this really a case of “espionage”? Could the possible Brazilian self-sufficiency in natural gas have led to the theft of this information? Give your opinion!
