Interesting. It's amazing how much controversy there is behind the skinny can.

Unfortunately, there were no Captain America cans here in Canada. The Red Skull Cherry 7up Can looks pretty cool.

Yeah, I found them in Boston in mid-August; however, I didn't purchase many for trade. From experience, a good way of finding cans that have been distributed earlier is to look at convenience stores, food court outlets, gas stations etc. The owners may have stocked up on drinks long ago and are still trying to sell them. I still find the 125 Anniversary Coke cans in random convenience stores, sushi places etc. (and I got all USA and Canada Coke series from there). If you don't find any in cartons at grocery stores, try those other places. ------------ rft3.wordpress.com/

Hahaha great commercial. I remember this one. I enjoy Pepsi having fun with Coke - like this summer when Santa and the Polar Bears (famously known for being used by Coca-Cola) went 'on vacation' and drank Pepsi instead. ---------- rft3.wordpress.com/

Very nice looking set! I like the old school classic styles of the packaging. ------- rft3.wordpress.com/

I have one of these cans, and it's one of my favourite diet Coke designs. It's interesting that this can design is related to a web magazine. I initially thought the design reminds me of a beauty magazine cover since the familiar logo is so magnified, all of it can't be seen at once. Its similar to popular magazines which have a model covering much of the magazine name. However, things like 'Rolling Stone' and diet Coke are so well known they can afford to do that. ---- rft3.wordpress.com/

It definitely is a bold change. I think the blue Budweiser script surrounded by red and white have become very familiar to society. I was recently at a "beer festival" event and there was a girl promoting Bud wearing a dress with the red, white with blue writing design. The brand she was showing off was easily identified. However, the new can does look more modern. ------ rft3.wordpress.com/

I've seen the thread about how to make a "fake airfilled" cans - which is something I haven't done... but might think about once I get another very special can (like gold yoda cans, etc...) Myself - I normally just use a bottle opener (similar to picture below) - and will on the bottom of the can, poke 1 small "vent" hole (with paper towel over can so it doesn't squirt everywhere) - then on the opposet side of the bottom of the can, will open a bigger hole. This allows me to easily pour the soda out into a glass & drink the soda (I'll drink almost anything) - and it also allows me to easily rinse out the inside of the can so it doesn't attract bugs & such. So doing all this still keeps the can very presentable sitting on a shelf - still allows me to drink the soda - and allows me to clean out the can. So what do other people do? I pretty much open my cans the same way. I did some traveling recently and I was sure to bring my can opener and "hole poker". My friend encourages me to learn the "air filled" or "No hole" technique but the bottom of the can will never be seen anyways, once it's on the shelf. As you said, it's still very presentable.

Thanks for the info. I'm from Canada but away on vacation for a while. I'm pleasantly surprised that Canada got it's own summer set - and a very nice looking one. The 'coolness' indicator with the bottle is a nice touch. I have a relative back home on the lookout for these cans now. He said the BBQ one is currently out.

My first thought was also a "going green" promotion similar to the Sprite cans last summer. In fact, it was one of the only cans I remember to feature a design element on top of the can - besides the world cup soccer cans from europe. Interesting find.

So, apparently it will only be released in two cities for the test run. This will make it harder to grab than Dr Pepper Ten. If anyone is in Iowa and Wisconsin, keep an eye out in July! ----------- rft3.wordpress.com/

It's too bad the graphics are not changed for summer 2011. In terms of 125th Anniversary cans, I'd think that if there was going to be any, they would have been released in April/May leading up to the actual anniversary, as it was in Canada, UK, Hong Kong etc. Right now in Ontario, the 125th anniv. cans have ended and the regular packaging has made it's way back onto shelves. It's strange the U.S. didn't get a version. -------- rft3.wordpress.com/
